I have 2 miracle kids at home (a 4-year-old and a 6-month-old). I was planning to bring home some trinkets and merch from the recent Moms in the Making conference for my 4-year-old, but finances are tight, so I wasn’t planning to do the same for my 6-month-old. I rationalized that he would be “too little to know,” but I also found myself wondering if I was being unfair by only bringing something home for my oldest.
I felt prompted to put my raffle ticket into a “Hungry Caterpillar”-themed raffle basket (we joke that baby boy is ALWAYS hungry), and I was delighted to find out I won. Now I had something to bring home to my son! But I had no idea just how perfect it was until I started unpacking the contents…
It truly feels like this basket was designed just for my son. All of my children, including a son in heaven, have a color. My 6-month-old’s color is sage green—the exact shade of the blanket and jogger outfit in the basket.
My son is huge, and most gift baskets with kid items are sized for infants. But my 6-month-old is already in 9–12-month clothes, and the jogger outfit was 9–12 months and fit him perfectly.
My son is named Evander, which means “strong man,” and there was literally a baby dumbbell teether in the basket! He is also teething, so it could not have been more timely.
I am in awe of how much our God cares about the details of my children’s lives—even in something as “small” as a gift basket.
