When I Surrendered, God Moved

In 2014, I married the love of my life. We always knew we wanted a family, but wanted to wait a little while before having kids. In 2017, we started trying to have a baby. After one year with no pregnancy, we made an appointment with our OBGYN. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. My husband underwent testing to rule out male factor infertility and his results were all normal.

In 2018, I began ovulation induction medication and would go into the doctor’s office for monthly blood work to check my levels to see if I ovulated. We met with our doctor every three months to check in and make changes to the medication, if needed. After almost a year, the next step was to check and see if my fallopian tubes were blocked. This test was going to cost us thousands of dollars because our insurance didn’t cover “infertility.”

God pressed on our hearts that we needed to get a second opinion before having this procedure done. After meeting with a new OBGYN, it was decided I would switch to a different ovulation medication. If after 6 months there was no pregnancy, I would then need to have the test done to see if my fallopian tubes were blocked. Well, we ended up not needing the procedure because I got pregnant on cycle four!!!

In January 2020, my husband and I brought our miracle baby girl into the world. If infertility taught us anything it is that God is faithful in every single circumstance. When I surrendered my plan to His plan, He moved in ways that still amaze me. We named our daughter “Brielle,” which means God is my strength. It was His strength that carried us on this journey. To all the couples out there fighting the fight of infertility, keep going. These babies are worth the wait.
