Naturally Pregnant after 7 Years TTC

Our miracle baby is due soon! My husband and I were married in 2008, began TTC 1 1/2 years later, and I thought our first child would be born in the spring of 2011, but God had other plans. For 7 years we tried to have a baby. Initial tests didn’t indicate problems and we wanted to trust God’s timing, so we took the slow road with intervention. Three years into our journey, I found a faith-based OBGYN that I love. I knew they wouldn’t be too aggressive with treatment, and that they understood the power of prayer. The doctor suspected endometriosis, so I had surgery to remove it. We tried Femara and progesterone supplements. In the middle of this, I published my book called “Embracing Hope During Infertility.”
.
Three years after my first surgery, I had another operation to remove endo and uterine polyps. These procedures were invasive, stressful, and costly, yet we continued to hope that one day we’d be parents. Several months after the final surgery, we visited a fertility specialist. The doctor told me we had a 1% chance of conceiving on our own each month, and recommended IVF for the best success rate. Instead, we decided to try IUIs. The first IUI with injectable drugs was unsuccessful, leaving us disappointed.
.
God continued to speak to us through the Bible and words of encouragement, and He was hearing the prayers on our behalf. The following month, when our schedules didn’t allow time for the fertility clinic, God said “it’s time!” We became pregnant naturally, without fertility drugs other than progesterone, and for the first time ever, I held a positive pregnancy test in my hand. The digital test declared the word God was finally speaking to us: “YES.” We cannot wait to welcome our baby girl, and we encourage everyone to hope in God, keep praying, and not give up.
