29 Aug Natural Pregnancy After Fibroids and Miscarriages
“Our journey infertility started before we even met. In the fall of 2006 I learned I had a large fibroid tumor in my uterus. At the time if I would have been done having children my OBGYN would have recommended for me to have a hysterectomy. This was devastating news thinking I might not ever be able to be a mom. I met my husband Dan in 2009 and we were married in 2010. We decided to wait until I was done with nursing school to start a family. In the fall of 2012 we started our journey together for a family, due to my history of fibroids we knew it might be more difficult to get pregnant. Our journey included a few hysteroscopic myomectomies (removal of fibroids), a laparoscopic surgery to remove an ovarian cyst, blood work for infertility (we learned my AMH was low), and 2 miscarriages (D&C for missed miscarriage and one natural), and seeing an endocrinologist for my thyroid. We also looked into adoption, we applied, but we were not selected to continue (only 8 families were selected out of a hat) to continue the process. We had our second miscarriage a couple months after finding this out. We were devastated especially after our second miscarriage. I did not think God was going to fulfill the desire of our hearts to become parents. In July of 2015 we were scheduled to meet with a reproductive endocrinologist. We found out the week were supposed to meet with the RE that we were pregnant. In February 2016 we were blessed with a beautiful daughter! My one hope is that this will encourage someone else out there not to give up hope.”
