I came to one of the recent Moms in the Making prayer calls carrying a heaviness that didn’t make sense to me. I had a beautiful seven-week-old baby—one that many of the women on that call had prayed for, hoped for, and believed for right alongside me. And yet, I felt drained and numb.
Caring for three miracles who call me “Mama” is the greatest blessing, but it is also a great responsibility, especially when one of them has special needs. I asked for prayer for my child, who was struggling, and for my own spirit, which was struggling too. And then one line of prayer pierced straight through me:
“It doesn’t have to be a process. You can be healed and set free right now.”
In that moment, Caroline was speaking, but the Holy Spirit was the One talking to my heart. My past experiences had taught me that healing is a process. But this time, the Holy Spirit whispered, “Why wait? You’re already free.”
Praise God that healing doesn’t always have to be a process. Praise God that when heaven opens, and the fresh oil of our Heavenly Father’s grace pours out, anything is possible—physical healing, emotional healing, spiritual healing, even generational healing.
I came for prayer because I felt myself being pulled back toward the pit of postpartum depression once again. That’s the thing about the enemy, he lures us with the deceptive comfort of old patterns. If it worked once, he’ll try it again. And if we don’t recognize it and shut it down, he’ll attempt to drag us back into a prison whose doors God has already opened.
Don’t go back now. He already set you free!
