In 2023, immediately after getting married, my husband and I felt a calling to start our family. We were full of excitement and expected everything to happen quickly, as we had seen that be the case for others in our lives.
After six months of trying, we found out we were expecting. Our sweet baby went to be with the Lord when I was nine weeks pregnant. We were crushed. Why me? Why my baby? I had done everything right.
After a few months of physical and emotional healing, we felt called to start trying again. This time, I began cycle-inducing medications and Clomid. After three failed rounds, my doctor said it was time to do an HSG—an exploratory procedure to see if we could find the root cause of my “unexplained infertility.”
I went in for my pre-op appointment, talked through the procedure with my doctor, and scheduled a date. I was feeling scared but hopeful. We were finally making progress, taking a step toward bringing our baby home. At that appointment, I was taken off all fertility medications.
I went home, and my husband and I prayed. We prayed for protection during the procedure. In that moment, I felt like I had fully surrendered.
A couple of weeks went by, and on a random Monday, I felt sharp cramps in my stomach. I brushed it off and went about my day as best I could. When I got home that evening, I thought, “I guess I could take a test, just to be sure.”
Boom. My world changed. There it was, that second blue line I had prayed so hard for, the one I had cried out for.
God blessed me with my sweet son, who is now seven months old. After 18 months of “unexplained infertility” and loss, God fulfilled His promise to me. When I held my son for the first time, every moment of anguish was worth it.
I believe God has a specific purpose for my son’s life, which is why it happened in His timing, not mine. Please be encouraged by God’s love for you. He has a plan for you and your future family!
