I joined Moms in the Making hoping to find healing, hope, and a path to thrive in Jesus. I didn’t expect to experience a miracle or shift in my heart to happen.
In our recent Journey to Wholeness topic in our MITM group, we talked about the words we speak over ourselves and how they can shape our identity. For six years, I have been calling myself broken, unworthy, unable to have children, and a question mark to doctors. I have seen countless doctors for my health and about my cycles. Every doctor is stumped. I’m healthy in their eyes. In the last four years, I have seen five different gynecologists trying to find someone who can help.
After we talked about our words and where our identities are, I started changing the way I spoke over myself, my husband, and our future. I no longer called myself broken but claimed healing. I no longer saw myself as infertile but claimed fertility. I no longer saw myself as unworthy but began to live as worthy and whole.
After this revelation and shift, I found out I had hypothyroidism—my labs finally revealed something! Shortly after that, I had an appointment with a new gynecologist. I had an ultrasound done that revealed a bleeding cyst on my right ovary. They told me I might have to have surgery to remove it, emergency surgery if I experienced any pain in daily life. I had a follow-up appointment scheduled for a month later.
Two days before that appointment, I looked at my husband and declared the cyst to be gone in Jesus’s name. I then prayed that the Lord would give clear imaging to show what has been going on with my body.
When I went to the appointment and had the ultrasound done, the cyst was completely gone! That was the first thing the doctor told me. The next thing they said was that I had PCOS. The “string of pearls” showed up clearly on this ultrasound, but was not there during the last ultrasound.
God removed the medical question marks that tried to take hold of my identity. He replaced them with a comma because while I have some answers, God isn’t done yet.
Thank you, Serenity, for sharing your testimony.
