At the start of 2025, life felt full of promise. I was earning a six figure salary, we had just moved into our new home, and we were only 5% away from our IVF savings goal. Then on April 11, 2025, I was laid off due to an economic decision by my former employer. That same day, my husband deployed for fire relief during the Palisades Fires. Suddenly, I was navigating both the loss of income and companionship after a season of deep mental burnout.
Weeks later, while gardening, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper, “Even when your finances deplete, don’t let your faith deplete.” I did not yet understand how deeply our resources and our trust would be tested.
As the year unfolded, provision came through unexpected grace. Friends covered meals at gatherings. Needs were met before we voiced them.
When my unemployment ended in October, fear resurfaced. I asked the Lord how we would move forward. His response was clear: “I am your resource. I am your provider.” My focus shifted from what was gone to Who remained.
Attending the 2025 Moms in the Making conference that year was a blessing. Fundraising reached 104% of the goal. During a workshop, I attended Porshea Wilkins’ session. Through her message, something dormant awakened in me. I was reminded that God calls us to birth more than children. He calls us to birth vision, purpose, and movement even in seasons of uncertainty and waiting. I even won a basket at the raffles at conference a small but meaningful reminder that 2026 would be different.
At year’s end, I opened a letter I had written to the Lord months prior, a yearly tradition. Inside was $800 I had forgotten. Provisions had been prepared long before the trial.
By the end of 2025, nearly 80% of our IVF savings was gone. Yet every bill was paid. There was food on our table. We continued to tithe despite the layoff and sponsor our child internationally. My first fruits that season were not financial, but time, anchored in Psalm 23:1: “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.”
The provision did not come from where I expected; but it came from the Source who had already gone ahead.
