Since 2024, I attended Moms in the Making virtual Bible studies while leaders encouraged me to step into leadership. Fear and doubt held me back, and old comments from family and unsolicited church advice left me feeling rejected. At the 2024 Moms in the Making Conference, I confessed my bitterness, that others received grace while I felt overlooked. Speaking it out became a breakthrough. That same weekend, I attended a leadership meeting, which was the first seed God planted.
I filled out the leadership interest form, but chose to serve on the sponsorship committee instead. In March 2025, I was invited to host a table at my church conference in August. At the time, I was only a liaison, already stretched thin. Then in April, I was laid off, and my husband was deployed for fire relief. I questioned the season until the Holy Spirit spoke: “Do you believe in God?” I said, “Yes!” The reply: “With God, there is never a dry season.”
That loss became a sabbatical. With my husband’s support, I studied, volunteered, and in June became a Moms in the Making leader. Soon after, I passed my SHRM exam on the fifth try, clinging to Proverbs 3:5–6.
By August, illness stopped my fitness fundraiser, which I had started to raise funds for the Moms in the Making Conference in Texas. I pivoted to creating fruit ornaments tied to Fruitful in Every Season. My husband painted while I detailed them. That same week, interviews, assessments, and the conference collided—yet God made a way, even sending my prayer partner from South Carolina to encourage me.
At our church conference, our Moms in the Making table was placed front and center under Psalm 68:6: “God sets the lonely in families.” Hard to miss! In that moment, I knew I was stepping into His purpose. Women said, “I thought I was alone.” Others prayed with me, took flyers, or supported my fundraiser. Two nonprofits connected with me, and my former pastor, offered a faith-based foster ministry link.
Looking back, obedience wasn’t about perfect timing, it was about surrender. My yes, given in the middle of loss and strain, multiplied into blessing: deeper faith, kingdom partnerships, and a flourishing marriage.
