My husband and I have been married for over eight years. For half of our marriage, we walked through the heartbreak of infertility while longing to grow our family.
About a year into trying to conceive, I began experiencing severe symptoms of endometriosis that continued to worsen. I went from living a normal life to needing a cane and mobility scooters, taking pain medication daily, and struggling just to get through each day. I sought answers from multiple doctors, but I was repeatedly dismissed and told that my symptoms were in my head, caused by IBS, simply a bad period, or related to my weight. So, I tried changing my diet, taking supplements, exercising, and even losing 60 pounds, but my symptoms continued to get worse.
During that same season, we experienced the pain of miscarriage and discovered that we were also facing male factor infertility. When I finally found a doctor who took me seriously, we were told our options were laparoscopic surgery, IUI, or IVF. None of those options were something we could afford, and we felt completely hopeless.
At the beginning of this year, I joined Moms in the Making, hoping to find support and encouragement while walking through infertility. During one of our meetings, the women in my group gathered around me, laid hands on me, and prayed boldly for God to heal my body and allow us to have a baby.
Two months later, I found out I was pregnant naturally!
God answered a prayer I had prayed for years. But He did more than just give us a baby. He completely healed my body! My endometriosis and PMDD have disappeared, and I experienced healing I never thought was possible.
Moms in the Making has been such a blessing in my life. These women truly became the hands and feet of Jesus by surrounding me with prayer, encouragement, and a community that reminded me I was never alone. This past semester, we saw four women in our group become pregnant, and we have witnessed over and over again that nothing is impossible with God.
To the woman still waiting and walking through infertility: God sees you. He has not forgotten you. Even in the hardest moments, He is near, and He is faithful. Keep trusting Him because His plans are always greater than we can imagine.
“For nothing will be impossible with God.” —Luke 1:37
