At the Moms in the Making leader retreat earlier this year, it was asked who was going to conference at our table, and I said that I had never been to conference because it’s during hunting season, so the money was not available. Caroline, Nachali, and several other women challenged me—they basically said that God has all the resources in the world. Why are you not asking Him for the money? I honestly had not really thought about it. My mindset was that if I didn’t have the money, then I simply wouldn’t go.
Nachali shared how God had provided for her to get to conference after she and someone else had missed their flight all the way from the Netherlands. So I said, “Okay, I will try to raise the money.” A coworker helped me by putting a raffle basket on her online boutique, which raised $289. I was able to buy my conference ticket, and it covered a portion of my hotel. During the year, I also received two unexpected raises at work and checks in the mail at the exact times we needed them!
Truly, the Lord showed us that He is our provider and that He can be trusted. He made a way for me to go to conference, and I am so thankful. I was beyond blessed during my time there! I’m so grateful for women who challenged me to grow my faith and ask God for something.
To anyone who has had the mindset I had and is doubting God in the area of finances, just go ahead and try Him. Don’t say no to something just because of money, He will make a way.
