In 2021, I was heartbroken and lonely because of my difficulty getting pregnant. I was desperate for help but didn’t know where to turn. I decided to take a chance on the Moms in the Making conference in Dallas without knowing anyone there. I went because I couldn’t find joy.
At the conference, when I heard Caroline speak, I realized she was the role model I needed for walking through infertility with grace, something that was missing in my life. She called out my dark, depressed thoughts as lies from the enemy. Before the conference, a stranger prayed for me and wrote me a card. It said, “JOY, JOY, JOY! The Lord wants to fill you up with hope and joy!”
After the conference, I joined a Moms in the Making group. Gradually, my heart began to heal. I found a beautiful community of women through MITM. Every year, I went to the conference, and the most meaningful breakout session for me was always the one on grief. Sometimes it was hard to hear, and I cried a lot of healing tears. One year, I cried so much after the session that I missed the group photo. Another year, I wept so intensely that the speaker had to stop and pray over me so I could calm down enough for her to finish her presentation.
2025 was my 5th Moms in the Making conference. I went to the grief breakout session expecting to be deeply impacted again. This year, I did not cry. I was shocked. As I reflected, I realized I no longer connected to grief on such a deep level because God had done so much healing in my heart over the past four years. Talking about grief was no longer overwhelming for my heart. It wasn’t that the speaker wasn’t good; it was that my heart was so full of joy that I no longer identified with my grief.
Sometimes heartbreak runs so deep that it takes years to heal, but if you keep seeking God, He will gradually heal your heart. Thank you to Moms in the Making for creating a space where I could find healing from a broken heart.
