God Fulfilled His Promise to Me of a Daughter

As I write this message, my eyes fill with tears… I’ve heard the testimonies of others, but truthfully, I wondered if it would ever REALLY happen to me…

I had a dream from God that one day I would have a baby girl and name her Isabelle. Then, over the years, as life happened (I didn’t get pregnant, adoptions fell through, our foster child left, and the 10th IUI we tried didn’t work), I started feeling very hurt and angry, thinking that maybe my promise from God might never be fulfilled. At first, I turned outward and started wondering why others were getting their miracle babies and still not me. But then God helped me see those people from a different perspective. Let me tell you what I saw… I saw moms getting off drugs to give their children a better quality of life. I saw happiness in the eyes of young moms and children where happiness might not have existed before. And you know what? I saw some amazing blessings.

So then I turned inward and started to question myself. I began thinking of all the ways I wouldn’t be a “good mom” or “deserve a baby.”

But then God gave me something so poignant, almost in a whisper, that I kept close to my heart: “God does not treat people as they deserve for their sins.” (Psalm 103:10)

Wow, so simple yet profound.

With this in mind, I kept going to my Moms in the Making Groups & Conferences. I cried, I prayed, I was prayed for, I talked about my journey, and I kept my hope alive as best as I could, believing that I would still get my miracle. And you know what? I finally did! At 40 years old, after 15 years of marriage, Isabelle Grace was born. Is it all rainbows and unicorns? Of course not—parenthood is much harder than I could’ve ever imagined. But it’s also the biggest miracle I’ve ever received!

So, friends, God doesn’t give any of us what we deserve, and I thank Him for that every day! I hope that anyone reading this also realizes that there’s still hope because God died on the cross for you, too. I pray that you receive your miracle (whatever it may be) soon!
