God Answered Our Prayer Through Adoption

I joined Moms in the Making in February 2021 after trying for over a year and being in such a dark place. Over the past four years, I’ve not only found a sisterhood but also grown my faith and gotten so much closer to God.

My husband had been believing for babies since 2019. Over the years, we tried naturally, did medicated cycles, and attempted IUI. In May 2023, after another IUI attempt was canceled, we felt led to adoption. At that moment, it became clear to us that how a little one came to us wasn’t as important as the love we had to give. We began working with an agency and started the home study process. Everything was moving smoothly until we hit a delay in officially being home study approved. Although it felt like a standstill, we saw God move in other ways. In November 2023, we learned we had won the Moms in the Making adoption fund. This financial provision gave me so much hope and reminded me that God is always working, even when we don’t see it. A few days later, we were officially home study approved—just before Christmas.

2024 began with an unexpected opportunity for our profile to be shown, but sadly, it didn’t go as we hoped. I was disappointed, but my husband saw it as encouragement to start preparing more for a baby, since we could be matched at any time. Months went by with a lot of heartbreak from profile showings that didn’t go our way, but we kept believing a better “yes” was on the horizon.

By September 2024, my heart was growing weary as we approached the one-year mark of our home study. I had attended church with a few girls from my local Moms in the Making group, and their worship team sang Way Maker. I sang and cried along because, while I knew every word was true, my heart was struggling to see God working in our journey.

Then, two days later, we got the call that we had been chosen by a birth family. The next day, we drove down to meet our sweet miracle, and Way Maker came on the radio. I sang along, this time with tears of joy. We’re still in the process of finalizing our adoption, but our miracle has been such a beautifully answered prayer.
