God Answered a 12-Year Promise

Thirteen years ago, God gave my husband and me a verse from Psalm 113:9:
“God’s grace provides for the barren ones a joyful home with children so that even childless couples find a family.”

After a year of trying, we underwent initial testing. The doctor diagnosed us with unexplained infertility, and we were told we were unable to receive any further help under the NHS. Despite the report, we had an overwhelming sense that we were to trust God, and that is what we did.
Many years passed without seeing the answer to our prayers, and at times it felt incredibly lonely. After a powerful encounter with God, I sought out community and found it in Moms in the Making. At first, that meant getting up at 1 a.m. to join a group. Eventually, it led me to become a leader. During that time, I grew deeper in my faith, and it changed my life.
In 2018, we felt God lead us into adoption, and we brought home a beautiful miracle girl. She was named Faith by her birth mother, and she is a reminder of our faithful God. We remained convinced that God would fulfill His promise and that I would become a mother to children through natural pregnancy.

Twelve years after that initial promise, I took a pregnancy test. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw my first positive. God had answered our prayers. However, within a few weeks, we knew something was wrong, and we tragically lost our miracle at 10 weeks.

God was so close during that time and taught me so much about His love, grace, and comfort. Through the loss, we discovered the reason for the years of infertility. Doctors were amazed that I had gotten pregnant and carried a baby for as long as I did. They said it was a miracle, and without it, they would not have found the problem, which could have killed me.

A while later, I was struggling, and as my husband and I talked, he declared, “Surely the Lord has been good to us, and we don’t even know it.” This proved prophetic. The very next day, I took a test and discovered I was pregnant once again.
Pregnancy after loss is never easy, but God has given me joy. I have been able to testify of God’s goodness to medical professionals, friends, and even people I meet.
